Pititful i-tunes

I've never even tried to convince anyone that I am an organized person, because I'm just not- not that I am proud of that, someday I will have more time.  Since Rob and the girls got me an i-pod Nano for Christmas, I've been determined to update and organize my i-tunes.  It's funny how half these songs are the girls, and I find myself singing along to Hannnah Montana as I'm working out.  Oh well, it's good to be young at heart, right?!

Our First Scare!

The other morning in the rush of getting Erika and Emily off to school, I casually ask: "Where's Sadie?"  because usually she is right under my feet.  The girls started looking and couldn't find her anywhere, and she doesn't always come by name, so the search continued.  Needless to say, the bus was coming in 10 minutes and the girls hadn't finished eating.  I sent Ellie to go look so the other two wouldn't miss the bus, and that's when we discovered she figured out the steps!  The upstairs is total hazard zone, and would be Sadie's haven!  So many little pieces and things to chew on!  Ellie came down with this wrapper in her hand and said, "Mom, I think Sadie ate chocolate."  All I remember the vet telling me at our first visit was that chocolate was toxic and to always have peroxide available to give them to make them vomit in case they did eat it.  Did I buy peroxide?  No, but silly me bought cute little treats, a warm fuzzy coat for her, a soft bed, but no "life-saving" peroxide.  Panic settled in as I looked at Sadie with her big brown eyes and now a brown mustache and beard.  After talking to the vet, he thought since it was such a small amount she would probably be fine.  If anything, the sugar would make her hyper.  I sat back in relief as I watched her run in circles in the living room and realized how easy these mistakes can happen and how careful we're going to have to be with the two most dangerous things for dogs are two of my favorite things for my girls, chocolate and gum.  Never a dull moment with Sadie around!  (And just think, we used to say that about Ellie!  It's like having another kid!)

Ellie's Attack

Do you think dogs really sense stress?  I'm pretty sure I'm a believer after Ellie's asthma attack the last couple days.  Although I've played every game imaginable (Go Fish, Guess Who, Mancala), Sadie sill won't leave her side. It seems the times I need to be documenting the most are the times I'm writing the least...  of course these are the days that are the busiest that you don't have time to blink.  Thank goodness for Sadie to keep up with the cuddles...

Er-Bear

I can't believe I just typed Er-Bear and realized she is probably too old to be called that.  So many times when we are out I call her Bear and people look at me a little funny, only to look over at a 10 year old.  The nice thing is that Erika doesn't flinch at the name.  So as long as she'll let me, Er-Bear she is!  I love these two pictures, the one of the small spaces in her room I feel is a total reflection of her personality.  Pretty much sums her up:

I love how as they get older their room starts to take on their own personality as they place their own little belongings in special places only they could think of.  (Ok, yes maybe I'm a control freak!)
"Dream big" is her little plaque that Aunt Julie got her- because Aunt Julie totally "gets her" with her flair and appreciation for art.  Erika can't wait to got to go to college in Chicago or New York and live in a loft, decorating it very Crate and Barrel-like.  The angel is "Granny," always watching over us, protecting our dreams.  The fancy shoe is Granny's that Grandma Rhoads gave Erika.  She says it fit Erika much better than her keeping it, because Erika loves shoes.  The mini clay pieces are Erika's passion.  She can't get enough of creating new pieces.  She tends to make more for others than she keeps for herself.  She has lots to learn from Aunt Linda, who she completely adores when it comes to the world of "little tiny things."  Her lanyard is from Disney World where she spent the whole week focused on collecting pins from pin traders.  The picture with her and Emily is with Miss Jordan from Drama Club at The Academy.  (Yes, we miss The Academy!)  The picture of Erika in the blue dress is the free-spirited side of Erika, when she's not trying to figure out how to save the whales or end the world's problems, and is her completely adorable, innocent 10-year old self!  Love her like crazy, our Er-Bear!!!

Our Ellie

Our Ellie.  Sometimes Rob and I look at each other and wonder where she gets it.  "It" as in the incredible energy, her mighty sassiness, her never-ending persistance.  She brings so much life to the Glover Household, and I just have to share her latest.
She's in the shower as I'm getting ready and asks why Daddy can't be off today since we were off school.  I told her he had to work.  "Why?" she asks.  I told her somebody had to make money to pay for the puppy.  She looks at me through the glass and says, "Why don't you just pay for it and he can go with us today?"
I go on to tell her how lucky I was to be able to stay home and take care of her and her sisters and explain how Blessed I was.
Shocked, her mouth dropped open, and she says to me:  "You don't make any money?!?!  Go get a job!"
(So much for being appreciated at home....)     (:
(Picture taken with her friend from preschool, they went to Build-A-Bear, just a little excited!)

"Spread love everywhere you go.  Let no one ever come to you with out leaving happier."  -Mother Theresa

Growing up with three other sisters, I never felt like my parents chose "favorites."  Having children of my own, I can't imagine having to choose one over the other.  They are so incredibly unique and balance each other out so well; I thank God everyday for my three sweet blessings.
Emily chose mother Theresa as her hero last year at The Academy, and this year at Bowman she is to research a famous person.  she was trying to decide between Helen Keller and Mother Theresa.  What an amazing little girl to idolize two amazing women!  She's decided to research Mother Theresa further in her project this year, as she will "become the character" she researches.   (A proud moment... )
Sometimes I think of Emily as our Mother Theresa made over.  Everyone she comes in contact with, she makes an impression.  I know God has a very special calling with this girl...

Sadie!

Could she be any cuter?  The puppy newness has not worn off with the girls yet, but I am one tired momma- she hates her kennel and barks all night!  Yikes!  (Good thing she's cute!)

Emily's wish

3 girls= barbie dolls, Hannah Montana everywhere, painted nails, lots of dresses, broken hearts (or breaking hearts!), very high car insurance,  and the list goes on and on!  But today, Emily's wish is to get her ears pierced.  Fortunately for her (unfortunately for us), she's a very focused and determined child that once she gets her mind set on something, she doesn't give up until she gets it.  Great asset for later in life, huh?  But we're talking in the here and now.  And right now, Emily wants pretty diamonds in her ears.  How long do we hold off?  Here's what we're up against:

She decided to try to convince us that she was ready to get her ears pierced by writing all the reasons, and then she writes 11 ways to prove to us that she is ready and we are to pick 4 for her to succeed in to prove she can do this.  She glued on pictures of earrings she liked and then asked a neighbor friend to write tips about getting your ears pierced.  If the poster wasn't enough, she left me a note that read:
Dear Mom,

I love you so so so much.  You are so so nice to me.  You are very "sweat."   When is my "frist" game I play with cami?  Katie said she would get her ears pierced with me.  I love you,
Emily
Pretty darn cute and pretty convincing...  What to do about Erika that wanted them but made her wait until she was 9...  I think it's more about responsibility and not as much age.  Topic to be continued with Rob and I...   decisions, decisions...

Snow much fun!!!

We had a blast today on our snow day!  Playing in the snow, hot chocolate, fashion shows, a little organizing, and a tad of putting away Christmas... is what our snow day included.  There were 6 other neighbors that joined in on the fun, making memories together!

Warming up with hot chocolate in our mugs Handy the Elf left for the girls...with plenty of marshmallows and whipped cream!

Sadie was worn out from all of the neighbors loving on her...  this lil panda is her cuddle bear when the girls aren't cuddling her...

The fasion show with our diva girls, directed by Emily herself...

The pile from the second time out...  I had to bring the kiddos in from the dark!!!  At least with the freezing temperature, the snow is here to stay!

Didn't realize there was a second place the outerwear was dumped!!!

Erika organized her clay, now she's ready for a snow day tomorrow to start making things!!!

As I started taking off the ornaments, the girls were trying to talk me into leaving the tree up year-round, and add hearts, eggs, flags... and have a celebration tree!  Not a bad idea, except that we have to get the tree down because Sadie's favorite place to go to the bathroom is behind the tree!!!

Minus a few neighbors, in the second round.

The girls already have planned a scrapbook day together with a little fun in the snow... let's hope for another snow day!!!

This time of year...

I want to spend less.
I want to rearrange the whole house (but surprisingly enough, I haven't)
I am drawn to the color blue (although my whole house is dominated by the color red)
I get caught up in scrapbooking (but am blogging and hoping that that surpasses my craving)
I dread the end of Christmas break (Ellie has been crying, because the house looks "naked")
I want to start a new project (besides sanding old furniture that were once mine, in the girls' rooms to avoid buying new)
I really need to update my new calendar (i'm old-fashioned, still write it down, www.busybodybook.com- holds up to 5 famiy members and their schedules, can't live without it in front of me when making appointments.)
I will read the Bible each morning ( a little each day, while Sadie is playing around me)
I wish I had a humidifier in each of the girls' rooms.
I wish the puppy was potty trained, I'm pretty sleep deprived, along with the girls' colds and coughs.
I wish our loved ones could come down from Heaven once a year for us to give them hugs and kisses.
I could lose those extra pounds now that I can put my heart and soul into it.
I will find my parents at peace with their careers in their 60's, they deserve it.
I will find simplicity in each day....

Katie's Landon

My baby sister starts back to work this week, watching her other little ones while she is blessed to be home with her first baby son.  He is such a love and so lucky to have an amazing mom!!!
This is dedicated to you, Kate, as I'm sure this is what you think when you are holding Landon so naturally in your arms:

Rock-A-Bye, Landon
Sent from Above
God's little angel
Mommy's little love
Now that you're with me
Life is so sweet
Since God's dearest angel
Made my life complete.

Christmas Break

As much fun as we had over Christmas Break, we didn't have many "jammie" days!  Enjoying friends and family has been on the top of our lists this week, as we brought in the New Year.  We had lots of tasks we wanted to check off our list, although the week flew by and we barely accomplished anything.  Putting together toys and installing batteries were the priority for the girls.  We have loved watching them this week playing with their Polly Pocket Resort, ice cream playdough shop, Mario Kart wii, Scattergories, and with their new puppy, Sadie!  (More about her tomorrow!)
